FAQ: Happy Seppuku's Base and Terrain Stamp Upgrade THE STAMPEDE!
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Why the changes?

Happy Seppuku has been trying to get into retailers for about a year or two. Some have been quite eager to put us on the shelf and have our products to boost the quality of crafting being done in their shop. However most retailers have expressed two concerns: 1. Price Point being a hand crafted/poured product with a slow production speed means an MSRP that can seem a bit high when sitting by other crafting supplies. 2. Discoloring is an issue with our current Urethane rubber as it browns in UV light. They still work fine but retailers feel it looks unappealing on the shelf. How does the material differ in quality?

When it comes to longevity and resistance, they are very similar to our urethane stamps, they however do not suffer from the discoloration issue of the urethane, and have less waste in the process of going from raw material to stamp. Softness wise they will be the same, the only difference you might feel is because the new stamps are thinner. Clean up the new material is much easier, especially since it can be flexed to get into those hard to clean areas. Last updated: Fri, Oct 23 2015 9:02 pm EDT

Are you EU (European Union) Friendly?

We get asked every Kickstarter “are you EU friendly?” Meaning do we have any shipping directly from the EU to avoid VAT and customs taxes. Honestly we would love to be, however in the end someone will have to pay both VAT & Customs Taxes. The first option is us shipping to you directly from our base here in the Seattle Washington area, meaning you more then likely will need to pay for these on your end. The other option is Happy Seppuku hiring a service in Europe, they figure out the local shipping, taxes, and customs rates and charge them to us, along with a paperwork fee. We ship the European company all the items for fulfilment and the packing lists, they charge us for packing the boxes (going rate about $1.25 per item going into the box) and getting them to you. With the second option by the time we pay for everything almost no funds are going toward getting what is needed to fulfill the Kickstarter, or we have to charge you up front even more than you may pay for VAT and Customs. In the end after research fulfilment houses and crunching numbers we would rather focus on getting your pledge to you as fast as we can and without devoting funds to a middle person, when those funds can be used to put more stuff in your pledge box. Can we get some things from your store as an addon?

In order to keep the STAMPEDE looking as clean as possible, we are keeping our addon section here limited to what we create with the stampede. Once we get to fulfillment and you receive your backerkit, our full store will be available to you though the backerkit’s addon selection area. You can find the link to our store above. It is up to you if you would like to add the funds for items from the store now or during the survey time. Last updated: Sat, Oct 24 2015 1:33 pm EDT

What is the benefit of using the stamp block?

The stamp block helps make the stamp ridged. This is helpful when trying to stamp your surface as flat and even as possible as pushing against the flexible stamp with your fingers over larger areas can create dips in your putty. It is also good if you are stamping a larger number of bases quickly. Last updated: Sun, Oct 25 2015 11:51 am EDT

Can I use your stamps to make pieces I want to sell? What do you do for Licensing?

In short yes you can, and we don’t do Licensing. The only thing you cannot do is take our stamps to make another stamp, we reserve our copyright there. The fact is stamps and moulds are tools, and to tell you ‘no you can’t create something with them to sell’ would be like a paint manufacturer telling you, ‘you cannot sell that painted mini, because we hold the patent/copyright on that color you used.’ We do ask politely if you are going to use our stamps please just don’t stamp a base and call it “yours” you are selling, that’s just tacky. Take it further and make something truly original, and if it helps you feel right point out that you used Happy Seppuku stamps to create it. Our mission as a company is to help the hobby grow and help you make your stuff look cooler with no stress, not to put more red tape up. Last updated: Mon, Oct 26 2015 12:45 pm EDT

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
